Tune: A Southern Song
—Mountain streams, 1950
Froth splashes into silver scraps,
The edged peak glistens in chilling light,
How many ridges has cleaved its might?
The sky infinite on high in waters emerald loses its height.
Time goes on in perpetuality,
Clear stream fl ows eastward in its own right,
Setting sail on a breezy day in spring bright,
How cometh the four seas and three rivers do not unite?
Note:
This ci-lyric was composed by the author on his 20th birthday, in which he describes the mountain streams in western Hunan to speak of his aspiration.
